"MEMPHIS" STYLE

Grupo Memphis - dícese del grupo italiano de arquitectura y diseño industrial fundado por Ettore Sottsass en 1981, con gran influencia durante toda la década de los 80 por su marcado estilo postmodernista.... Y hoy, todavía, de gran inspiración en la decoración.

Formas geométricas, aire kistch y colorido a raudales sirven para clasificar este movimiento que seguro lo habéis visto en muchas ocasiones. 

La semana ha pasado volando y a pesar de todas las ideas que bullen en esta cabecita para publicar en el blog siempre me falta tiempo para hacerlo. Durante el fin de semana continuaré con el trabajo, y por supuesto algo de tiempo relajado para mí y la familia es absolutamente necesario. Os deseo un feliz in de semana.

Geometric shapes, kitsch and splash of colour classify this collective that you came across many times.

The week has flown by and in spite of all the ideas that teem in this head to post on the blog I always miss time to do so. During the weekend I'll continue to work, and of course some relaxing time for me and the family is absolutely needed. I wish you a wonderful weekend.

HORST: FOTOGRAFO DE ESTILO

HORST: PHOTOGRAPHER OF STYLE

Aquí donde las veis son fotografías tomadas en 1939, 1941 y 1947 respectivamente, con el mismo denominador común: El fotógrafo es Horst P. Horst para la revista Vogue. Él se supo adaptar rápidamente a las técnicas de color más desarrolladas de aquella época (estamos hablando de los años 30), y realizó fotografías que hoy nos resultan así de fascinantes. Más que moda, Horst plasmaba estilo.

Si da la casualidad que Londres os pilla a tiro de piedra no os pedais la exposición Horst Photographer of Style en el Victoria & Albert Museum (6 septiembre 2014 / 4 enero 2015)... y luego me contais.

Here you see pictures taken in 1939, 1941 and 1947 respectively, with the same common denominator: The photographer is Horst P. Horst for Vogue. He adapted quickly to the more developed color techniques of the 30s, and took photographs that today seem so fascinating. More than fashion, Horst embodied style. LAS MIL Y UNA RAYAS: Luisa Olazábal

Hola lectores! Hasta ahora no os había hablado de la decoradora Luisa Olazábal, lo cual no quiere decir que no sea una gran admiradora suya. Muy probablemente habréis visto sus proyectos publicados en algunas de las mejores revistas de decoración de nuestro país. Su estilo es a menudo sobrio y muy (insisto en el "muy") elegante. Esta publicación de hoy muestra la mesa decorada, por ella y su equipo el año pasado, en el evento anual, al que nunca falta, "Las mil y una mesas", de la fundación ANAR. Esta mesa titulata "No te rayes" tal vez se salga un un poco de sus decorados para interiores en los que hace uso de una paleta mucho más neutra, pero considerando que se trata de un evento, el contraste de negro y amarillo junto con una luz estudiada y rayas por doquier (seguimos con la elegancia), cumplen un papel definitivo. El guiño especial lo sitúa en el centro de la mesa con unos pináculos de inspiración veneciana de lo más acertado. Por mi parte he tenido mi particular inspiración "rayada" con estos modelos mucho más pop.

Hello readers! Until now I had not talked about the decorator Luisa Olazábal, which does not mean that is not a big fan of her. Most likely you have seen her interior projects published in some of the best decorating Spanish magazines. Her style is sober and very (I insist on the "very") elegant. This post today shows a table decorated by she and her team last year, at the annual event, which never miss, "Las mil y una mesas" of ANAR Foundation. This table could be a little out of her often neutral palette, but considering that this is an event, the contrast of black and yellow and studied light and stripes everywhere (still with elegance), play a definite role. She places a special wink in the center of the table with those successful Venetian pinnacles. For my part I've had my particular "striped" inspiration much more pop with these fashion outfits.

Ay! Me olvidé anunciar el evento que todos lo años atrae a Madrid personas de todo el mundo en busca de nuevos talentos, piezas de arte exclusivas, y precios asquibles como en pocas feias. ARCO Madrid, la Feria de Arte Contemporáneo (19-23 feb.), cerró sus puertas hace tres días, y yo sin informaros... Espero que más de uno hayais podido daros un paseo y disfrutarais de tanta originalidad artística.... de esa que hace preguntarse al visitante ¿qué carajo es esto?!

Oh! I forgot to announce the event that every year attracts to people around the world in searching of new talents, unique artworks or affordable prices. ARCO Madrid, Contemporary Art Fair Madrid (19-23 Feb.), closed its doors three days ago... Hope most of you could visit it and enjoyed so artistic "exotism", and facing some sculpture you probably wondered "what the hell is that?!".

PUCCI + DIRAND

La maison Emilio Pucci ha abierto nueva boutique en Nueva York. Como no podía ser menos en semejante firma de lujo, el encargado de decorarla ha sido el mismísimo Joseph Dirand, gurú de la alta decoración francesa. Dirand, que consta entre mis favoritos, vuelve a dejar su sello inconfundible de líneas neoclásicas puras y uso de mármoles exquisitos.

The Emilio Pucci Maison has opened the doors of its fabulous boutique in New York. As one would expect in such luxury firm, the decoration has been cared by a guru of the Haute decoration, Joseph Dirand. Dirand, consisting among my favorites, leaves again his sign of pure neoclassical lines and exquisite use of marbles.

De los objetos para viaje que Louis Vuitton pidió hacer a varios grandes diseñadores, este cabinet portatil es sin duda mi favorito. El ingenio de Fernando y Humberto Campana les llevó a crear este "armario" basado en la idea de frutas que  cuelgan, con un añadido de tiras de cuero inspirado en la danza tribal brasileña Maracatu. Los bailarines de dicha danza visten pelucas y ropas de tiras de tela que sugieren un balanceo divertido. Para los más serios existe también la versión de cabinet sin tiras.

Cada pieza tienen en su interior estantes con luz y una forma que permite plegarlo cómodamente. Eso sí, hay que asegurarse de tener a mano una buena barra donde colgarlo (o un tío muy cachas) en los momentos  de espera.

This portable cabinet is definitely my favorite. Louis Vuitton asked to several great designers to create a smart travel object for a limited edition collection. The genius of Fernando and Humberto Campana led them to create this "wardrobe" based on the idea of hanging fruits, with added leather straps inspired by Maracatu Brazilian tribal dance. Such dancers wear wigs and fabric strips clothes that suggest a fun rolling. For the most serious clients exists also a cabinet version without strips.
Each cabinet has shelves and light inside and a fabulous shape that let be folded easily.  

Of course, be sure to have on hand a good bar to hang it (or a huncky guy) in the waiting times.
