PANE & TULIPANI

Hola a todos. Hace casi dos años que hice estas fotos y bueno, no sé bien porqué no las había publicado hasta ahora. El lugar se llama "Pane & Tulipani" situado e la ciudad italiana de Como, y descubierto por casualidad en una de nuestras escapadas a la ciudad.
Se trata de un restaurante de ambiente campestre que comparte actividad con una floristería, de ahí el nombre, también con ese mismo aire campestre que veis y que tanto me gusta. No tengo fotos de la parte más interior que correspondería a la de la zona del comedor y la floristería, que sigue una decoración muy rústica manteniendo, al igual que en el resto del local, un respeto total por la estructura original.
Aquí podeis comer a muy buen precio platos sencillos italianos, tomar el aperitivo o comprar flores. ¿Os gusta? Podeis ver más fotos aquí, aquí y aquí.

Hello everyone. Almost two years ago I took these pictures... well, I don't know why I hadn't posted them until now. We came across with this restaurant in one of our visits to Como and since then is one of our favorite place to eat. Its name "Pane & Tulipani" (Bread & Tulips).
It is a country restaurant that shares activity with a florist business too, hence the name, also with that same rustic decoration that you see. I haven't got any pictures of the inside, that would correspond to the dining area, which keeps, as in the rest of the areas, a total respect for the original structure. 
Here you can eat Italian tasty dishes by an affordable price, take the evening aperitif or buy a bunch of pretty flowers. Do you like it? See more photos here, here and here...

A FAMILY CELEBRATION

Hace ya más de un mes de estas imágenes, pero nunca es tarde para compartir un momento así. Celebrábamos el cumpleaños de mi padre y por primera vez en mucho tiempo conseguimos reunirnos toda la familia junta. Por suerte, y a pesar de que el otoño estaba llegando y estábamos en Zürich, el tiempo fue bueno para poder preparar una barbacoa de tarde en el jardín. Me puse manos a la obra para tal festejo que, con ayuda de varios cómplices, tenía que resultar una sorpresa. Y resultó, no sólo para el homenajeado, pues hubo buena música toda la cena, refrescante spritz y un inesperado "bailoteo" incluído!

Trucos de decoración: juega con dos o tres tonos, al menos uno que sea neutro, y dependiendo del evento atrévete con colores más o menos intensos. Por supuesto las flores y/o elementos naturales siempre son muy resultones, siempre y cuando no tapen la visión de la persona que esté enfrente o incomoden en la mesa. Si puedes superpón manteles de color diferente. No centres la decoración exclusivamente en la mesa: decora el techo y juega con velas en el resto de la estancia. Usar objetos vintage hacen ganar a la mesa en originalidad: en esta ocasión mezclé una cubertería antigua de plata con otra moderna de líneas clásicas. Si te apetece dar un punto de sofisticación usa espejos como bajoplatos. Pon una nota divertida: yo usé las servilletas con un estampado de billetes de 100 € que a simple vista parecían reales.

Inventarse un juego en el que todos participen hace la velada inolvidable y cuida que la música sea la adecuada.

I took these pictures more than one month ago, but it is never too late to share such moment. It was my father's birthday and for the first time in a long time the entire family got together. Luckily, although the fall season was arriving and we were in Zurich, the weather was good to do an evening barbecue in the garden. Well, I worked for such event, with the help of my accomplices, for getting a surprise. Finally it was... and not only for the honoree. There was good music during the whole dinner, a refreshing spritz drink, and an unexpected dancing party inclusive!

Decorating Tricks: playing with two or three tones, at least a neutral one. Depending on the event dare with more or less intense colors. Of course the flowers and/or natural elements always look nice, but be sure that they don't obstruct the view of the person who is in front or hinder at the table. Overlap tablecloths in different colours. Don't only focus the decoration on the table elements, decorate the ceiling and the rest of the room with candles too. Get originality with vintage objects: I mixed an old silverware with another modern one. If you wish a touch of sophistication use mirrors as saucers. A funny note: I used the napkins with a printing of 100 € banknotes which at first look seemed real. 

Inventing a game in which everyone is involved makes the event unforgettable, and choose the appropriate music.

... Y aquí estoy. Hola a todos! Mi vuelta se ha hecho esperar pero aquí me tenéis con un reportaje-resumen de mis vacaciones. Destino (como siempre): Ibiza... Esa isla tan deseada por gentes de todo el mundo. Será por su sol, sus aguas. Por su su gastronomía, variada y sabrosa. Por su historia, su gente, peculiar y hospitalaria, su fiesta o su tranquilidad... Me quedo con todo y haciendo hincapié en que es un paraíso de paz, al contrario de lo que muchas personas piensan. ... And here I am. Hello everyone! My return has been waited but I am back with a report-summary of my vacation. Destination (as always): Ibiza... That island so desired by people around the world. It will be for its sun and its waters. For its gastronomy, varied and tasty. For its history, its quirky people, its fiesta or its peace instead... I love everything on it and I emphasize that it is a haven of peace, contrary to what many people think. Here you can see...

Hola a todos. Ayer domingo, en vista de que la nieve no daba tregua decidí quedarme en casa. Bueno, la excusa del tiempo siempre funciona pero en realidad no tenía ningún plan especial. Hice un plan con mi partamento: limpiarlo, que ya tocaba después de una semana frenética de trabajo, y lo hice... y luego ¿qué? Seguir en casa... Ordené mis escritorios...Sí, estos dos que veis en las fotos y que en realidad no los uso como tal. El de metacrilato, orginal de los 70, lo compré en su día para hacerme mi espacio de trabajo. Como podeis comprobar es imposible dificil trabajar en una mesa llena de objetos de decorativos,...pero y ¿lo bien que quedan? (yo me lo digo todo). El de madera de raíz, es de los años 20, y llegó a mí por una casualidad. Después de tenerlo en el trastero un par de años he decidido darle una estancia digna al desdichado mueble. Digo desdichado porque por algunas partes está muy maltratado de lo que deduzco que durante muchos años no recibió la atención que se merecía. Mi relación con él es una tanto compleja. Empecé por odiarlo. Lo veía más que feo, horroroso, pero mis sentimientos van cambiando y hasta diría que ha mejorado mi salón, de líneas más modernas. 

Por fín le he puesto marco a la foto que me regaló mi amigo Sacris, fotógrafo burgalés, y ahora decora la cocina. Me gusta mucho esa foto porque es una estampa del paisaje típico de mi tierra: campos llanos de cereales amarillos (aunque la foto sea en B/N).

Os preguntareis que hacen esos dos troncos en mi terraza. A mí me gusta llamarlos esculturas naturales y confío en que el día de mañana puedan ocupar un lugar como mueble dentro de mi casa. Ya tengo algunas ideas....

Hi all. Yesterday Sunday, in view of the snow did not let up decided to stay home. Well, the weather is always a perfect excuse but really I didn't have any special plan. I made a plan with my apartment: cleaning, it was necessary after a frenetic week of work, and I did... and then what? Stay at home... I ordered my desktops... Yes, these two you see in the pictures that don't actually use as such. I bought the plexiglass one, orginal from 70's, with the intention of use it as my workspace. As you can see it is impossible hard to work at a table full of items, ... but what about how nice it is? The root wood desk, is of the 20s, and came to me by chance. After having it in the attic a couple of years I decided to give it a decent stay to this piece of furniture. My relationship with him is a somewhat complex. At the begining I hated him. I saw it as a horrible piece, somewhat grim. Now I think it has improved my living room of modern style.
Finally I've added the frame to the photo that my friend Sacris, Burgos photographer, gave me some years ago. Now decorates the kitchen. I really like this image because it is a typical landscapes of my country: flat fields of yellow grain (though the photo is in B / N).
You will ask what are those two piece of wood trunks on my balcony. I like to call them "natural sculptures" and I hope that tomorrow can occupy a place as furniture in my home. I already have some ideas....
