A FAMILY CELEBRATION

Hace ya más de un mes de estas imágenes, pero nunca es tarde para compartir un momento así. Celebrábamos el cumpleaños de mi padre y por primera vez en mucho tiempo conseguimos reunirnos toda la familia junta. Por suerte, y a pesar de que el otoño estaba llegando y estábamos en Zürich, el tiempo fue bueno para poder preparar una barbacoa de tarde en el jardín. Me puse manos a la obra para tal festejo que, con ayuda de varios cómplices, tenía que resultar una sorpresa. Y resultó, no sólo para el homenajeado, pues hubo buena música toda la cena, refrescante spritz y un inesperado "bailoteo" incluído!

Trucos de decoración: juega con dos o tres tonos, al menos uno que sea neutro, y dependiendo del evento atrévete con colores más o menos intensos. Por supuesto las flores y/o elementos naturales siempre son muy resultones, siempre y cuando no tapen la visión de la persona que esté enfrente o incomoden en la mesa. Si puedes superpón manteles de color diferente. No centres la decoración exclusivamente en la mesa: decora el techo y juega con velas en el resto de la estancia. Usar objetos vintage hacen ganar a la mesa en originalidad: en esta ocasión mezclé una cubertería antigua de plata con otra moderna de líneas clásicas. Si te apetece dar un punto de sofisticación usa espejos como bajoplatos. Pon una nota divertida: yo usé las servilletas con un estampado de billetes de 100 € que a simple vista parecían reales.

Inventarse un juego en el que todos participen hace la velada inolvidable y cuida que la música sea la adecuada.

I took these pictures more than one month ago, but it is never too late to share such moment. It was my father's birthday and for the first time in a long time the entire family got together. Luckily, although the fall season was arriving and we were in Zurich, the weather was good to do an evening barbecue in the garden. Well, I worked for such event, with the help of my accomplices, for getting a surprise. Finally it was... and not only for the honoree. There was good music during the whole dinner, a refreshing spritz drink, and an unexpected dancing party inclusive!

Decorating Tricks: playing with two or three tones, at least a neutral one. Depending on the event dare with more or less intense colors. Of course the flowers and/or natural elements always look nice, but be sure that they don't obstruct the view of the person who is in front or hinder at the table. Overlap tablecloths in different colours. Don't only focus the decoration on the table elements, decorate the ceiling and the rest of the room with candles too. Get originality with vintage objects: I mixed an old silverware with another modern one. If you wish a touch of sophistication use mirrors as saucers. A funny note: I used the napkins with a printing of 100 € banknotes which at first look seemed real. 

Inventing a game in which everyone is involved makes the event unforgettable, and choose the appropriate music.

Por primera vez publico en Eclecchic un proyecto mio de decoración, cuyo resultado ha sido muy satisfactorio. En esta vivienda, situada en el centro de Madrid, la actuación más importante se centró en el salón. Es una pena no poder mostraros fotos de la situación en la que estaba anteriormente para que vierais la diferencia.

La distribución era opuesta a lo que veis. Donde ahora está situado el estar antes se encontraba el espacio de comedor, y viceversa. La puerta doble que hacía de acceso principal estaba bloqueada por cajas, por lo que sólo se accedía por la puerta secundaria, quitando valor a un espacio tan importante de la casa. Contaba con un mobiliario de los años 70 de bajo coste y en mal estado, y las paredes oscurecidas por el tiempo, estaban cubiertas del tan temido gotelé, odiado por cualquier decorador que se precie. Igualmente había exceso de objetos que agobiaban el espacio creándolo incómodo.

El propietario, un joven interesado por el diseño y con un presupuesto reducido, tenía claro que quería un espacio de líneas limpias, sin excesos y funcional, así que nuestras premisas fueron potenciar la luz y crear una circulación cómoda de ambientes con un estilo muy actual. Los tonos que eligió el mismo cliente para su apartamento son los grises que han servido como base para jugar con pequeños contrastes en tonos rojos. Se eliminó el gotelé, se pintaron paredes y carpinterías y se barnizó el suelo original. El mueble que cubre el radiador y sirve de pequeña librería se hizo a medida y otras piezas  de mobiliario se adquirieron en Ikea y pequeños tiendas de la ciudad. Los muebles de autor, como las sillas, la lámpara de pie, la de techo, o el reposapiés se tratan de óptimas réplicas encontradas en Interior Addict. Los detalles como los jarrones, que son vintage, y los cuadros de la pared son piezas que he ido adquiriendo a lo largo de los años, y los cojines comprados en Zara Home.

For the first time in Eclecchic I post a personal decor work, whose results have been very satisfactory. In this appartment, located in the center of Madrid, the most important action was focused in the living room. It's a shame not to show some pictures of the previous interior before the remodeling to see the difference.

The old distribution was opposite to what you see. Where now is located the lounge before was the dining space, and vice versa. The double main door for the entrance was blocked by boxes therefore only it was possible to access by the secondary door, wich reduced value to an important area of the house. 70's damaged low cost furniture "decored" the living room, and the rough walls were darkened by the time. An excess objects had become the room uncomfortable.


The owner, a young man curious by design and with a limited budget, craved a clean lines, no excesses and functional space, so our premises were to enhance the light and create a comfortable environment of contemporary style. The grey palette was chosen by the client so this fact let me add small contrasts in red tones. The rough walls were smoothed and painted and varnished doors, windows and the original soil. The furniture that covers the radiator and used like small library was custom made, and other pieces of furniture were purchased in Ikea and small shops in the city. Chairs, floor and ceiling lamp, and the footrest are amazing replicas found at the online shop Interior Addict. The details like the vases, which are vintage, and the wall works were acquired  by me over the years. The pillows purchased at Zara Home.
